Make critical decisions fast in the ICU at the point of care

In the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), every second counts. Changes in patient status can happen quickly and without warning. You rely on blood testing around the clock to carefully monitor changes in patient status.

Point-of-care testing (POCT) can help reduce waiting time for lab results with accurate results when you need them so you can spend more time on patient care.[1]

Radiometer, specialists in blood gas and acute care diagnostics since 1954, delivers comprehensive and connected POCT solutions to support fast clinical decision-making in the ICU.

Overview of some of the relevant parameters you can measure with the Radiometer ICU POCT solution. The parameters and biomarkers in the Radiometer ICU POCT solution are included in scoring systems such as APACHE, MODS, SAPS and LODS [2].

How you can spend more time on patient care in the ICU

In addition to 19 critical blood gas parameters and 9 biomarkers, Radiometer offers seamlessly connected blood testing analysers, transcutaneous monitors, and a point-of-care IT solution that automate and simplify blood sampling and data capture with:

  • Automatic patient-sample registration at bedside
  • Automatic blood sample mixing
  • Automatic blood aspiration and dispensing
  • Automatic capture of data and transfer to hospital IT systems

In short, a POCT solution that can help boost efficiency in the ICU, enabling you and your staff to spend more time where it matters most—with patients.

The point-of-care solution allows us to quickly get the relevant parameters needed for the treatment of our critically ill, intensive care patients.

Choose a complete and connected solution

The Radiometer ICU point-of-care-testing solution supports your daily work so you can make critical decisions fast, increase efficiency in your ICU and improve patient care with:

ABL90 FLEX PLUS blood gas analyser

Reliable results on 19 critical parameters from one blood sample of only 65 μL in 35 seconds. Automatic mixing unit.

safePICO syringes

Blood gas syringes designed for homogeneous blood samples.

AQT90 FLEX immunoassay analyser

Run tests such as cardiac, coagulation and infection biomarkers without leaving your critically ill patient. Fast turnaround time enables you to act on test results here and now.

AQURE POC IT solution

Device-to-lab connectivity for lab management of POCT devices and operators 24/7. Automatic notifications and remote maintenance.

TCM5 FLEX transcutaneous monitor

Non-invasive real-time monitoring of oxygenation (tcpO2) and ventilation (tcpCO2) status in critically ill patients. Real-time monitoring offers a reliable approach to titrate ventilator settings without repeated blood sampling [3].

1st Automatic for efficient testing

With the pre-barcoded safePICO syringe you can scan and automatically link operator ID, patient ID and blood sample ID directly at the bedside. When the blood gas analysis is complete, results are transmitted back to the patient's bedside via the AQURE data management system. It’s accurate and it’s simple.

The solution installed in our ICU directly links the patient with the blood gas syringe and also transfers test results back to the patient bedside. This means we have short process times and can minimise sample mix-up.
